Do you want to have hamsters for pets? Well, then you have to know a lot about them and consult a vet regarding their diet and care, so that you are able to look after them well. These are rodents with stout bodies and with tails that have shorter lengths than the bodies. The animals have short stocky legs, small furry ears and wide feet. You will love to stroke their silky fur. However, they are difficult to have as pets as they are small in size and make very fast movements.

You will find hamsters squeaking because they are scared or when they are in pain. Usually the squeaking is inaudible to the human ears as they are in a high frequency range. If you have a hamster as a pet, you will get used to its squeaking often. Note that they are prey creatures and get frightened very easily. Baby hamsters are born blind and use the squeaking noises as a means of communication. If your hamster is squeaking for apparently no reason, consult a vet immediately. The squeakiness is actually high pitched noises. They also use it for communicating in the ultrasonic range.

These creatures also make teeth clattering noises; this is a sign to show that the hamster is unsettled. This is often evident among hamsters when it is put inside a cage with another hamster that it does not know. It can often signify a beginning to a combat between the unfamiliar hamsters. They also make certain noises when they are in need of food and water. These burrowing animals are omnivorous. Make sure you care for their diet. You can feed these small rodents fresh vegetables and fruits, nuts, seeds, yoghurt drops and boiled eggs. With the right combination of love and care, the hamsters make for great pets.
